Our Waste Management System: Collection, Treatment, and Disposal Methodologies
Our Waste Management System: Collection, Treatment, and Disposal Methodologies Image

The waste management system employed by our company is a comprehensive and environmentally responsible approach that ensures the efficient collection, treatment and disposal of various waste streams. We ensure to prioritise sustainability and resource optimisation in our waste management practices.

Here at Multilac, waste polyethene plastics are collected and managed in collaboration with Macksons Paint Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd., a reputable plastic recycling facility. Through this partnership, we contribute to the recycling and repurposing of waste polyethylene plastics. These materials are recycled and then reintroduced into our production processes, effectively closing the loop and minimising environmental impact.

In our commitment to sustainability, we embrace the reuse of plastics and metal drums, employing them for the packing of our export products. When excess empty plastic and metal drums accumulate, we collaborate with external buyers such as Melbourne Rolling Mill (Pvt.) Ltd., to ensure responsible disposal or repurposing of these materials. This approach not only minimises waste but also promotes resource efficiency.

Waste cardboards generated during our operations are systematically recycled to create cardboard corners specifically designed for tile packing. This recycling initiative not only diverts cardboard waste from landfills but also generates useful by-prod- ucts that add ease to our operations.

In addition, paper waste, paper bags and other garden waste are diligently collected and managed in partnership with the Thanthirimulla Pradeshiya Sabha. This collaborative effort ensures the responsible disposal and, whenever possible, the recycling of paper-based materials, further contributing to our eco-friendly waste management practices.

As part of our commitment to environmental responsibility, wastewater generated during our processes undergoes treatment at the water treatment plant. This treated wastewater is then carefully processed to meet stringent environmental standards, and finds a valuable second life in plantation activities.
