Macksons, a leading Sri Lankan Conglomerate has announced their sponsorship of the 2021 Lanka Premier League Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament. Macksons Holdings, the renowned paint manufacturer of Multilac and tile manufacturer of Macktiles came on board as an official “League Partner” of the tournament.

The 2021 tournament is the second edition of the LPL and will feature five teams batting each other to win the championship. The inaugural edition was held in November – December 2020, where the Jaffna Stallions emerged as the inaugural champions.

The agreement was signed between IPG CEO/Co Founder Anil Mohan and Macksons Director/CEO Shimmer Milfer.

Director/COO of Macksons Sajjaad stated; “We are always very proud of the fact that we are a Sri Lankan company. When we were given the opportunity to work with LPL, we believed it is a great opportunity for us to showcase our loyalty to our country. We believe LPL has been instrumental in signaling a new dawn in Sri Lanka Cricket. Our beautiful nation has so much to offer and cricket is a part of that. I would like to thank Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa”

He further added, “It is an honor to be a sponsor of the Lanka Premier League, a promising and inspiring tournament in Sri Lanka cricket. We look forward to working with Sri Lanka Cricket and IPG Group to create and provide a thrilling cricketing experience to fans throughout the nation. Our paints Multilac, our tiles Macktiles, our cricket LPL.”

Due to the prevailing pandemic, on the advice of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka Cricket, have opened ticket sales for up to 50 percent of stadium capacity for the second season of the tournament, which is schedule to kicked off on the 5th of December and will be held until 23rd December 2021.

The league matches will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, whereas the final rounds will be hosted at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota.

The LPL tournament will be conducted with strict adherence to Covid-19 measures to ensure the health and safety of all cricketers, personnel and spectators throughout all the matches. All spectators in the stands will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing at all times during the matches.

Multilac, Sri Lanka heritage brand of paints has a decorated legacy. Receiving innumerable awards over the years including Gold Award for Exports. Multilac is the first paint brand in Sri Lanka to have obtained the Green Label Certification, and the only company in Sri Lanka to boast a lead safe certification by IPEN USA.
