- Ideal for wood, metal, masonry, and previously painted surfaces.
1. Identify the Surface Type
- Common surfaces: primed wood, metal, previously painted surfaces by solvent base paint, and masonry(cement surfaces).
- Ensure the surface is dry, sound, and clean.
2. Surface Cleaning
- Remove dirt, grease, wax, oil, or other contaminants using a degreasing agent or mild detergent.
- Rinse well and allow to dry completely.
3. Remove Old Paint and Rust
- For metal surfaces:
- Remove rust, mill scale, and loose paint using a wire brush, sandpaper, or mechanical tools.
- For wood surfaces:
- Sand smooth and remove any old, flaky coatings.
- Ensure all wood knots are treated if necessary.
4. Sanding
- Sand the surface thoroughly to ensure good adhesion.
- Use medium to fine-grit sandpaper.
- Wipe clean with a dry cloth to remove dust.
5. Repair Damages
- Fill cracks, holes, or imperfections with appropriate wood filler (for timber) or metal filler (for metal).
- Let it dry and sand the repaired areas until smooth.
6. Priming
- Apply the correct primer depending on the surface:
- For Wood:
- Use Multilac Wood Primer (solvent-based).
- Allow to dry, then sand lightly before enamel application.
- For Metal:
- Use Multilac Red Oxide Primer or Zinc Chromate Primer for ferrous metals.
- For galvanized surfaces:
- Use Etching Primer or a suitable galvanized primer.
- For Masonry (if applicable):
- Ensure the surface is previously primed with a masonry-compatible primer.
7. Undercoating (if required)
- For enhanced durability and a smooth finish, apply Multilac Undercoat.
- Sand lightly after it dries.
8. Application of Multilac Gloss Enamel
- Stir thoroughly before and during use.
- Apply 1–2 coats with a brush, roller, or spray gun.
- Allow 12–16 hours drying time between coats (depending on humidity and temperature).
- Do not apply in direct sunlight or high humidity.
