- Interior and exterior metal surfaces (gates, grills, doors).
- Wooden surfaces (furniture, doors, trims).
- Previously painted enamel surfaces.
- Masonry surfaces (with proper priming).
1. Identify Surface Type
- Primed wood, metal, masonry (cement surfaces), previously painted surfaces by solvent base paints.
- Ideal for interior and exterior use.
2. Surface Cleaning
- Remove all dust, grease, oil, dirt, wax, and other contaminants.
- Use soap solution, degreaser, or mineral turpentine for oily surfaces.
- Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly.
3. Remove Loose Paint, Rust, or Mill Scale
- For metal surfaces:
- Use a wire brush, sandpaper, or grinding tool to remove rust, mill scale, and loose paint.
- For wooden surfaces:
- Scrape off old, flaking paint and sand the surface to a smooth, even texture.
- Fill nail holes or defects with a suitable wood filler and sand smooth.
4. Sanding
- Sand the surface thoroughly to ensure good adhesion.
- Remove all sanding dust with a dry cloth or vacuum.
5. Priming (Essential Step)
- Apply the appropriate primer based on the substrate:
- For Metal:
- Use Multilac Red Oxide Metal Primer or Multilac Zinc Chromate Primer for rust protection.
- For non-ferrous or galvanized metal:
- For Wood:
- Use Multilac Wood Primer (solvent-based).
- Ensure primer is dry before sanding lightly and moving to the topcoat.
- For Masonry (if required):
- Surface must be fully dry and primed with a suitable alkali-resistant primer.
6. Undercoat (Recommended for Best Finish)
- Apply one coat of Multilac Undercoat Enamel.
- Let it dry completely and sand lightly to ensure a smooth surface.
7. Application of Multilac Matt Enamel Jet Black
- Stir thoroughly before and during use.
- Apply 1–2 coats with a brush, roller, or spray gun.
- Allow 12–16 hours drying time between coats (depending on temperature and humidity).
- Use in well-ventilated areas.
