1. Surface Condition
- The surface must be:
- Clean – No dust, mud, oil, or rubber deposits.
- Dry – No moisture or damp spots.
- Stable – Cracks or loose particles must be fixed.
- Cool – Avoid application on hot surfaces (direct sun).
2. Cleaning & Preparation by Substrate
- For Asphalt or Concrete:
- New surfaces:
- Allow to cure for at least 7 days for asphalt.
- Allow 28 days curing for concrete before painting.
- Cleaning:
- Sweep or blow off dust and debris.
- Use a degreaser if oil or fuel stains are present.
- Pressure washing is recommended for deep cleaning.
- Dry thoroughly before applying paint.
- For Previously Painted Markings:
- Remove flaking or loose old paint.
- Lightly abrade glossy areas with sanding or grinding.
- Clean and dry the surface before recoating.
3. Surface Temperature
- Ideal surface temperature: 15°C to 35°C.
- Avoid painting in direct midday sun or high humidity conditions.
4. Final Prep
- Mark the layout using chalk or masking tape if needed.
- Ensure the area is free of traffic, dust, and water before painting.
