- Metal objects and clad surfaces.
1. Surface Cleaning:
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, mold, mildew, or any contaminants.
- Remove any loose, flaky, or peeling paint by scraping or sanding.
- For new surfaces, remove any form oils, curing compounds, or other residues.
2. Repair:
- Fill any cracks, holes, or imperfections with a suitable filler or putty.
- Sand the repaired areas smooth once dry.
3. Priming:
- For porous or bare substrates, apply a recommended primer or sealer suitable for the substrate material (e.g., concrete, fiber cement, metal).
- Allow the primer to dry completely as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Surface Smoothness:
- Lightly sand the surface to provide a good key for the topcoat.
- Remove sanding dust thoroughly using a clean, dry cloth or brush.
5. Moisture Check:
- Ensure the surface moisture content is within acceptable limits (usually below 12% for wood-based cladding or as specified).
- Avoid applying the topcoat on damp or wet surfaces.
6. Environmental Conditions:
- Apply the topcoat in suitable weather conditions — avoid very high humidity, rain, or extreme temperatures.
- The ideal temperature range is typically between 10°C and 35°C.
