1. Cleaning the Surface
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from:
- Dust
- Oil or grease
- Loose paint or rust
- Wax or polish residues
- Use appropriate cleaning agents or degreasers for stubborn contaminants.
2. Surface Preparation by Type
- For Metal Surfaces:
- Remove rust and scale using wire brushing, sanding, or abrasive blasting.
- Clean with a solvent or degreaser.
- Apply a suitable primer (e.g., Multilac Red Oxide Metal Primer or Zinc Phosphate Primer) before applying gold paint.
- For Wood Surfaces:
- Sand the wood using fine-grit sandpaper (220–320 grit).
- Fill imperfections with Multilac Wood Putty.
- Apply Multilac NC Wood Primer or Sanding Sealer, then sand smooth before the gold paint application.
- For Masonry or Plaster:
- Ensure the surface is fully cured and dry.
- Remove dust or loose particles.
- Apply a suitable acrylic primer or sealer before gold paint.
3. Final Dust Removal
- Wipe down the surface with a clean, lint-free or tack cloth.
- Avoid moisture contact before painting.
4. Primer Compatibility
- Always apply Multilac Bright Gold Paint over a suitable primer or basecoat that enhances metallic brightness (usually light or white primers).
