1. Cleaning the Surface
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, wax, or loose particles.
- For oily or greasy surfaces, clean using a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.
- Allow to dry completely before painting.
2. Priming (if required)
- Depending on the surface type:
- Canvas:
- Use a gesso primer (e.g., Multilac Acrylic Gesso) to seal and prepare the canvas for better adhesion and colour vibrancy. Let it dry for 24 hours before applying paint.
- Wood or MDF:
- Sand the surface lightly to smooth. Apply a wood primer or acrylic gesso to prevent absorption and warping.
- Paper:
- Use high GSM acid-free paper or watercolour paper. No primer required, but a light gesso coat can be applied if desired.
- Wall (for murals/artwork):
- Apply a suitable wall primer (e.g., Multilac Acrylic Wall Primer) to ensure adhesion.
3. Drying Time Before Painting
- Ensure all primers are fully dry (typically 6–24 hours) before applying Multilac Artist’s Acrylic Paint.
