1. Surface Condition
- The surface must be:
- Smooth and even – Imperfections can disrupt the decorative effect
- Clean – Free from dust, grease, fungus, or peeling paint
- Dry – No dampness or seepage
2. Surface Preparation Steps
- New Plaster/Concrete Walls:
- Allow proper curing (minimum 28 days).
- Remove dust and laitance using a dry cloth or brush.
- Apply one coat of Multilac Water-Based Wall Primer or Acrylic Wall Sealer.
- Apply Multilac Wall Putty for leveling if needed, then sand smooth.
- Apply Multilac Luxury Promise Emulsion (or similar emulsion base coat) in a matching colour tone to support the final effect.
- Old/Previously Painted Walls:
- Remove old, flaking, or chalky paint by scraping or sanding.
- Wash to remove dust, stains, or grease.
- Repair cracks or holes with putty; sand after drying.
- Apply one coat of wall primer/sealer.
- Finish with an emulsion base coat in a shade close to the topcoat.
3. Special Tips for Best Effect
- Smooth finish is crucial — uneven walls will affect the visual impact of the special effects.
- Use Multilac tools recommended for this product: sponge rollers, trowels, or special brushes, depending on the desired texture.
- A uniform basecoat enhances the depth and consistency of the decorative finish.
4. Ready for Application
- Once the surface is:
- Primed
- Smooth
- Clean and dry
- It is ready for Multilac Platinum Magic Special Effects Emulsion application.
