- Galvanized iron surfaces.
1. Surface Cleaning
- Before applying the G.I. Adhesion Promoter, ensure the surface is:
- Clean and dry.
- Free from:
- Dust.
- Grease or oil (use solvent or degreaser).
- Factory coatings or passivation layers.
- Rust or corrosion (use fine sanding if any).
- Recommended cleaning:
- Wipe with thinner or mineral spirits to remove oils.
- Use a detergent solution, rinse with water, and dry thoroughly for general dirt removal.
2. Surface Abrasion (if needed)
- For extra adhesion, lightly scuff the surface using:
- Fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 400–600 grit) or
- Scotch-Brite pad
- Avoid heavy sanding on galvanized surfaces—only dull the shine slightly for better mechanical grip.
3. Final Cleaning
- After sanding, wipe with a lint-free dry cloth or tack cloth to remove all fine dust.
- Ensure the surface is completely dry before primer application.
4. Ready for Application
- Once the surface is:
- Smooth but slightly dull.
- Clean, dry, and free of contaminants.
- It is ready for Multilac G.I. Adhesion Promoter application.
