- Cement / Concrete Floors.
1. Suitable Surfaces
- Cured concrete floors (minimum 28 days old).
- Cement screed.
- Previously painted surfaces (if paint is in good condition and compatible).
2. Cleaning the Surface
- Remove all dirt, dust, grease, oil stains, and loose particles using:
- Wire brushing or mechanical scrubbing.
- Degreasers or mild detergent solution.
- Water jet if needed.
- For oil-contaminated surfaces, use a strong detergent or Multilac Degreaser and rinse well.
3. Etching (for Smooth Concrete)
- If the surface is very smooth or power-troweled, etch it using a mild acid wash (e.g., diluted muriatic acid 10%) to create a profile.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely.
4. Priming
- Apply Multilac Water-Based Floor Primer or use the first coat of diluted paint (10–15% water) as a primer.
- Allow to dry fully (usually 4–6 hours) before top coating.
5. Crack and Hole Repair
- Fill cracks and holes with cement-based filler or epoxy putty, depending on size.
- Allow full curing and sanding if required.
6. Conditions Before Painting
- Ensure the floor is dry (moisture content < 6%) and cool.
- Avoid painting under direct sunlight or when rain is expected within 24 hours.
