1. Surface Condition Check
- Wood: Ensure it is fully dry (moisture content <12%), free from oils, grease, dust, and previous loose coatings.
- Metal (if applicable):
- Rust-free, degreased, and pre-primed with a suitable primer.
- Previously Coated Surfaces: Sand lightly to remove gloss and create a mechanical key.
2. Sanding
- Use emery paper or sandpaper (180–220 grit for base prep, 320–400 grit before topcoat).
- Always sand along the grain (for wood).
- Remove sanding dust thoroughly with a vacuum or a clean, lint-free cloth.
3. Basecoat / Sealer
- Apply a P.U. sealer or appropriate basecoat for absorption control and smoothness.
- Sand lightly after the basecoat dries (fine grit, ~400).
- Clean off dust again before applying the Milano P.U. Topcoat.
4. Application of Milano P.U. Topcoat
- Mixing:
- Stir the topcoat thoroughly before use. If it is a 2K (two-component) system, mix with the hardener in the correct ratio.
- Tools:
- Use a spray gun, brush, or roller (spray gives the best results).
- Conditions:
- Apply in a dust-free, well-ventilated area at 25–35°C.
- Coats:
- Apply 2–3 coats with light sanding (400–600 grit) between coats for best adhesion and smoothness.
