1. Surface Cleanliness:
- Ensure the wood surface is dry, clean, and free from dust, dirt, grease, oil, wax, and fungal or insect attack.
- Remove any existing paint, varnish, or coatings completely using sanding or paint remover.
2. Sanding:
- Smooth the surface using sandpaper (grit 80–120) to open the wood grain for better absorption.
- Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.
3. Moisture Content:
- Wood moisture content should be below 15% for optimal penetration and performance.
4. Fungal/Infestation Treatment:
- If the wood has mold, fungi, or insect attack, treat it with a fungicide or insecticide before applying the preservative.
5. Dust Removal:
- After sanding, thoroughly remove all dust using a clean brush, vacuum, or cloth.
6. Surface Condition:
- Do not apply to wet or damp wood. Ensure the wood is properly seasoned or kiln-dried.
